After all the time you spent waiting for that boat I would strongly, most strongly, recommend you go just a little bit further and put in a 36volt 101 thrust. I don't think you'll regret doing that, but, I am afraid if you go with the lighter motor you will have regrets. Just my two cents, but, you need to be happy a year from now with no regrets.

Avenger Custom Bay Boats had a website before the hurricane. Sustained a lot of damage to their facility which is in New Orleans East and they are really "labor-bound" right now...had 8-10 workers and now only the onwer, his father and a loyal helper. ALL of them lost their homes, property, etc due to the fact that they lived in Chalmette, LA. Trying to rebound their business, private homes and their lives!!! They don't even have telephone service to their business area as of yet.
ps...this thread originally had over 15? pages (was over four years old) of useful info, questions, responses and was deleted by the owner of this site for business reasons. John Castelluccio, Jr.

Made a very quick stop by the Avenger Shop today. Told John to order the Minn Kota 101# (36 volt) w/60" shaft...only $40. more than the 24 V/80# thrust. Found out which drop-hitch to use on my vehicle for proper elevation while trailering my Avenger. Storage compartments were 95% completed...insulation/foam. Both cajun anchor holders glassed in place. Consoles totally glassed in place with the underneath storage shelving finished. The mold for my two "oldmanbob" storage/stepups were being worked on. Took some more pics and had to leave right after my 10 minute visit to sell my Lafitte Skiff---tough looking at it for the last time after working it for the past 29 years...lots of memories and lessons learned while in my skiff. NEXT, sell my 19 1/2' boat and will be down to one boat...NEW 226 AVENGER!!!!! John Castelluccio, Jr.

Went to the Avenger Shop today. My hull has its hatches in place, all of the storage areas have been insulated. The two livewells were being prepped. John said that he will shoot the initial and final coats of interior gelcoat in the storage and livewells this coming Monday...then my choice of webbing color.
LETTING THE CAT OUT OF THE BAG...there are some very, very big plans for the Avenger Shop in the near future (early October?)... A LOT OF IRONS IN THE FIRE! GOOD LUCK TO JOHN PABST AND AVENGER CUSTOM BOAT WORKS, INC./LLC John Castelluccio, Jr.
ps...even planning on "paid advertising" on this website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What was taken? This is a business burglary not a robbery, UNLESS he was on the premises at the time of the burglary...THEN IT IS AN AGGRAVATED BURGLARY if the perps were armed and/or armed themselves while on the premises. John Castelluccio, Jr.
I am planning on making a visit maybe tomorrow, Thursday but definitely Friday.

Throughly enjoying my 226 Avenger. Now have over 50 hours, several limit trips in Black Bay, John added a hydraulic jackplate and upgraded my CD/FM speaker system (sounds like a gaint boombox on a trailer). The last addition was with Moodgam's (Mitch) help...a SS prop that now has my 200 HPDI running WOT @5650 rpms and 54.3 mph (GPS) when I finally found the "sweet spot" with the help of the jackplate.
Saw the LSU (gold & purple) themed Avenger off the road by a "camp" while coming from Hopedale several weeks back.
NOW A SAD NOTE...the entire Avenger production has come to a scretching halt. John Pabst had a heart bypass sometime back, but he is recovering very well. He may be able to finish Mr. Joe's 252/300 Yamaha within the next two months IF all goes well. John Castelluccio, Jr.
New SUV, new house, new boat, retired, soon to get "new-wife" and in debt for the rest of my life!!! |
