Just bought a Garmin 540 GPS....it calls for non-alcohol lens cleaning products....so as not to degrade the non-glare coating. So far all the lens cleaners I see at the drug strores contain alcohol..any tips??

| Find one made for sunglasses, they are usually good to go. If not a mild soap and water will do the trick. Also watch spraying bug spray around them. Deet does wonders! |

Hey Swampro, Is it an expensive deal to have the screen replaced once the deet has done its dirty deed to a GPS screen? The bug spray has definately done a number on my GPS screen.

| Which unit do you have? It is pretty costly. Most people just wipe the rest of the blue haze off instead of replacing it as the spots drive you nuts! |

I have the Garmin 3210. I have tried just about everything to clean the screen without success. What do you mean by wiping the blue haze off? My screen has a couple of 2-3" darker areas on the glass along with several spots and yes it does sometimes drive my nuts.

I use a micro fiber towel, just dampen it and wipe it clean.

I had a screen that got damaged by bug spray and various other things. Got practically imposiible to see. I used some of the wife's non abrasive cleaner for the glass top stove. Worked great. Looks as good as new

What brand of cleaner did you use to clean the screen? What technique did you use?

It was Whirlpool non-abrasive cleaner. I got it with the stove. I dabbed some on an old teeshirt rag rubbed it on the screen. It hazes up an basically you wipe off the haze and your done.
