my 140 suzuki 4-stroke seems to run fine, but no water is spewing out from the outlet after circulating. The hole does not seem to be blocked--at least at the top. How is the water getting out? and eventually will the motor run hot??

i am guessing that you are asking about your telltale hole or peehole at the at the top of the engine, just below the cowling?? that little hole is to tell you that the water pump is working and yes they get stopped up all the time. cooling water will go in through the water pump through the head and then will exit through the exhaust. take a long piece of weedeater line and feed it into the peehole and run it in as far as it will go, then crank up and see if the water is coming out of the little hole.

I have a 115 Suzuki, my telltale hole was plugged with mud. Using a pair of pliers grab the telltale and pull it off, you can then get to the back of it and see if it is plugged. You can also flush the motor with it off to make sure the passage is clear of any debris. I picked up some marsh grass once and found it coming out of the telltale. I now check it regularly to make sure it is clear of any debris.
