LITTLE FELLOW TAKES A TROPHY!!!!!!!!!

After an eighteen hour rain here at Rock Hill Hunting Club in Meridian, MS.,  Mr. Donnie Penton and his grandson Bryson Faia, 8 years old left the camp house and took a stand on a cut over. Mr. Donnie spotted 3 does and a huge buck walking through the cut over. Mr. Donnie told little Bryson to take the shot at the huge buck at 200 yards away with his 308. Bryson hit the deer but he disappeared into the brush.  Mr. Donnie and little Bryson came back to camp and got some help along with tracking dogs to look for the huge buck. It was not long before the tracking dogs found the huge buck down in the cut over. The buck was 12 points, 22 inch main beams and 21 inches wide. CONGRATULATIONS LITTLE BRYSON!!!!!!!!

HAVING A GOOD HUNTING SEASON! Got an invite to hunt on a beautiful deer ranch in Camden, MS. with customers. On Friday evening I got in a shooting house on a big green field. The wind was stiff as the evening hunt began.  I hoped it would calm down before dark. Just before dark the wind got light and a good looking 8 point buck walked out onto the green field at 100 yards. I took the shot with the Tikka 308 and dropped him in his tracks. The rut is just starting here in MS.  Should see some good bucks between now and Jan. 31. Capt. Jody

Took a doe yesterday evening here at Rock Hill Hunting Club. The wind was howling out the south. But the wind was in my face just the way I like it as I hunted a field favorable with a south wind. Figured if I was going to see any deer it would be late. Sure enough a doe came out on the green field at 5 pm. She presented me with a broad side shot at about 75 yards and the Tikka 308 did the job. Put the 150 grain bullet just behind the shoulder and she ran about 30 yards and piled up. Going to turn her and the buck into some good sausage and hamburger. The rut will start in about 3 weeks and the big bucks will be on the move. Capt. Jody

THE BIG BUCKS ARE STARTING TO MOVE! Yesterday evening I got in a nice shooting house here at Rock Hill Hunting Club. It was over looking a beautiful green field with two lanes planted in wheat. At 4:30 pm two bucks and a doe made their way out in the plot to my left. The bigger buck kept going back into the woods not presenting me with a shot. Finally the big buck stepped out of the woods giving me a neck shot. I took the shot with my Tikka 308 and he hit the ground. This is the second deer I have taken in two weeks as I took a doe last week along with two hogs. Plenty Deer, Turkey and Hogs here at Rock Hill Hunting Club. Capt. Jody

Looks like we will be shut down due to the weather for several days as cold fronts back to back are upon us. GOOD HUNTING WEATHER COMING!!!!!!!! Tight Lines Capt. Jody

MISSISSIPPI BOYS SMOKE EM THIS MORNING! Had the pleasure to guide regulars Don, Bobby & Phillip from Madison, MS. The guys lodged at Woodland Plantation having a great meal last night and a good nights rest. They made the short drive to Myrtle Grove Marina and we made our way out early to a near by bay.  It was very foggy this morning so we had to make our way rather slow. We made one stop and began a slow drift.  The guys cast live shrimp under the Four Horsemen Cork.  It was a fish on the first cast and just about every cast there after as we drifted the shoreline of the bay. It turned out to be a beautiful day on the water as the fog burned off. BIG THANKS & GREAT JOB DON, BOBBY & PHILLIP! TIGHT LINES!!!!!!! Capt. Jody
