GOOD BITE IN LAFITTE…

5042148528
The redfishing remains strong down here in Lafitte and the fish are eating the last couple days. We have been staying in the lakes east and west of Seaway Marina and finding schools of nice fish. The reds have not migrated to the ponds just yet but should with the passage of a couple cool fronts. We are throwing H&H gold spoons and Baby Bull Minnows tight-lined on 1/4 oz jigheads to catch the reds. A quick tip is to try a shrimp pattern when the bite is tough as it seems the fish are reacting to the glide-like motion of the shrimp at times over the paddle tail. The TKO shrimp by H&H has been effective lately and the baits are tough so it’s possible to catch several fish on one shrimp instead of spending your time changing tails all day. On a side note, we picked up 25 nice trout today in the Barataria Bay area after chasing reds this morning so fall is starting to happen in our area and that’s good news for sure! Come see us down here in Lafitte, an easy 35 minute drive from New Orleans. We have several guides ready to treat you to a charter that you won’t soon forget and work hard for you! We have nice and clean lodging available that is affordable, just like our fishing charters! Give us a call at 504-689-2006 or send an email to captainphil02@cox.net to get your trip on the books now! Don’t forget to check out our website for more great info. ANOTHER GOOD DAY OF REDFISHING BETWEEN STORMS!

5042148528
Today, I had the pleasure of guiding good friends and customers from north Louisiana, Kenneth and Stephanie Jones. The guys were fighting colds and sinus issues but were willing to fight through to fish for redfish. The rain was heavy and of course sitting right over where we wanted to fish so we fished where we could and caught a few this morning. Patience paid off as the rain FINALLY moved and allowed us to fish the targeted areas that were holding better numbers of fish. We finished the day with a nice limit of redfish from eating size to a couple in the 30 inch range. With the sun out this afternoon, we were able to lay eyes on some fish and Kenneth and Stephanie enjoyed watching a few good ones inhale the H&H gold spoons and were happy to be released to fight another day.  A great way to end the day, after persevering through a wet morning. Many thanks again to my friends Ken and Stephanie Jones for a great day on the water and for their return business! All fish caught on H&H soft plastics and gold spoons using TFO inshore rods and Power Pro braided line with quality spinning reels. We fished out of a custom Gaudet aluminum boat powered by Mercury outboards and Motorguide trolling motors while anchored by a Power Pole! If you would like to book a trip with Lafitte’s hardest working fishing team, give us a call at 504-689-2006 or send an email to captainphil02@cox.net. We have fishing and lodging available that won’t break your budget and is worth every penny. God bless and good fishing, Capt Mike Helmer

CATCHING FISH BETWEEN STORMS

5042148528
The fishing for reds and drum remains steady in spite of passing storms down here in Lafitte. The fish are still schooling in the lakes for the most part and are wanting a little deeper water. A few trout are showing up in the Barataria Bay area which means they are on the move northward as the spawn is just about over for the year. Next month should be great for the specks when they appear in the interior lakes in good numbers. Trout catches added to the reds and drum we are catching now will mean very impressive boxes of fish, typical of our fall fishing! We have openings the next couple weeks and throughout the fall so give us a call at 504-689-2006 or send an email to captainphil02@cox.net to book your trip. You will be glad you did!!

STILL CHASING REDS IN LAFITTE

5042148528
We enjoyed another weekend of good fishing for the hard-fighting redfish down here in Lafitte. September is usually a good redfish month and this year is no exception. The trout have started their transition back to the inside and are on the move. We are looking forward to next month when they will show up in the interior lakes in big numbers. The reds are still in the lakes with the high water temps but will return to the shallow marshes when the first couple fronts cool off the water. We are throwing H&H Baby Bull Minnows and scented shrimp on 1/4 oz jigheads and 1/2 oz H&H gold spoons fishing shorelines in the main lakes east and west of Lafitte. Good ole market shrimp fished around rock weirs and retaining walls is working for us on the tougher days. We are booking pretty well for the fall season but have plenty openings left for fishing and lodging so… Come see us down here in Lafitte, Louisiana!! We are located an easy 35 minute drive from New Orleans. We have 5 guides ready to fish and lodging available. Our prices are very reasonable and won’t break the bank. We provide quality equipment including Shimano spinning reels on TFO inshore rods. We use the best in soft plastics, the originator H&H Lures! All boats are fully equipped including Power Poles . Give us a call at 504-689-2006 or send an email to captainphil02@cox.net to book your trip today. LAFITTE REPORT

The redfishing is going strong for us down here in Lafitte right now! The fish are schooling in the lakes east and west of Lafitte and are finally looking to eat with the approach of fall.I had the pleasure of guiding good friend and customer Mike Montgomery and 2 buddies yesterday. We headed south initially to look for trout but the bay was too rough with storms close by. Plan b was redfish and that worked out well as we found several schools wanting to play in a main lake. Most of the fish were caught sight-fishing which was a bonus for sure. We used H&H and scented soft plastics on 1/4 oz jigheads to fool the reds and boated a nice limit of solid fish. A good time was had by all on board and we look forward to their return! Come see us down here in Lafitte, Louisiana!! We are located an easy 35 minute drive from New Orleans.
