What a great start to the New Year. The fishing has been off the charts even though we had some very severe cold weather and low water. Outside in the open bays there are sheepshead to end all sheepshead. Drag pulling 5 to 7 pounders in endless numbers. Along with this is redfish and drum. We are having to toss very large Berkley Rib Shad’s to catch the red fish because the sheepshead will not give the reds a chance on shrimp. What a problem to have, catching too many fish, and great eating fish at that. This will be happening for the next 2 to 3 months so come get in on the great fishing. Stock your freezer with some awesome eating fish. If its trout you want they were hurt a little with the cold but not enough to stop them from feeding on the Berkley Rattle Shrimp in Coastal Candy and Glow colors. On all of the fish we are catching in the marsh you can see the effects of the cold on the fish but they have survived and are hungry. The reds are still stacked in the deep holes for now but with this warm up they will disperse to feed on the flats as the water and bait come back. I put a couple of pictures of the Lowrance showing the school of red fish as they would pass under the boat. If you want to get in on this fantastic fishing (catching) give me a call.
