First mate for today was Big PJ, we have been trying to hook up from some time, just needed all the stars / criteria to align for our trip to take place aboard the Bay Flat Jr.

    • Up early, loaded up the Bay Flat Jr, it had been awhile since we use her, need to reeducate meself on what had to be down
    • Me 15 minutes early for our 5:45 AM meet up at Big PJ abode
    • Big PJ ready, willing and able
    • Weather turn cold
    • No wildlife sighting on Hwy 11 or 90
    • Not many boats on Hwy or gas stations
    • Had to make a stop for some go juice
    • Only 1 boat in Gulf Outlet Mariner parking lot, big surprise
    • Water was up, so had to get Big PJ to back up the Bay Flat Jr with me in the boat, this not bad, but backing up to pick me up was a little more challenge.
    • Off to spot #? To start our day of fun on the water

    • Perfect
    • N.W. wind 8-10 then 12-14 mph was and steady did it blow
    • Partly cloudy, later in the day sunny & clear
    • Cold, than cool, NICE, just like me like it
    • Water level up 1.5 To 2 foot
    • Water temp 56F
    • Tide rising turned and started to fall
    • Water clarity on a scale of 1-7 was a 5 to 7 plus
    • Only saw a few boast out and about, Most where inside of the locks on left hand side going out

    • Be safe
    • Have fun
    • Put some run time on Bay Flat Jr. and Yamaha Nightmare Machine
    • This be me daily therapy for ALL me aliments
    • Gather Intel for future trips, and to share with fisherperson, (on rodnreel.com) to help assist them in their choice of areas to fish, lures to use and presentation of same to the elusive Silverwonders.
    • Follow up on all the stories me been hearing about Silverwonders at Bayou Bienvenue, just like all other stories, all me head today was you should have been here yesterday.
    • See if the Redworries are in The Pen yet
    • Check out Michaud Slip to see if the Silverwonders showed up yet
    • Find some fish Big PJ can play with
    • Find a spot # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

    • WIND AT YOUR BACK: (Today we had the wind at our back on a 45* angle from left to right, but we were able to cast with the wind and still keep a tight line while reeling in. At sometimes we did have a bow in our line, and we would have a fish on without us knowing it, until we felt it run.)

    • MOVING WATER: (Hard to tell in The Pen, but it felt like it was coming in)

    • WATER CALRITY: (Ranged from 5 to 7 plus, looked good all over)

    • HOLDING FISH: (Spot # BB3 (33) Redworries)

    • PATIENTS: ( Took a few minutes for our first bite, but after a while told Big PJ we need to reposition the Bay Flat Jr, we out of position, did this and the crazy 40 minutes was on, on, on.)

    • SKILL: (Knowledge on how to fish the spot, and boat position for the spot)

    • LUCK: (Big PJ learning how to back a trailer up)
    • Anchor up cast & retrieve slowly along the bottom, with a twitch every now and then, tight lining…………………………………??????ALL FISH CUAGHT THIS WAY

    • Lived to fish another day
    • (1) Silverwonders
    • (34) Redworries
    • (4) Bottoms, 4 popped lines
    • (1.2) bushel of grass
    • The feeling of that fresh cold air hitting me face
    • Cold ears
    • Cold toes
    • Watching Big PJ try to tie his line with cold hands
    • Spending the mornings fishing with one of the best fisherperson me know, Big PJ
    • Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

Let’s just say it was like preseason for Big PJ, enough said

Still cannot find the Silverwodners, but the Redworries seem to want to come out and play, we did it all with lures today. Change your quest for spots to the ones on Redworries and not those of the Silverwodners.

Fishing & catching favor the brave

    O & A:

Are there limits to fisherpersons creativity?

    TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:
