After dodging/waiting out all the mixed weather during the week, we hit the fair weather fisherperson jackpot today.  Cool temps and a falling tide.  So nice, even I made it out there in time to see the sun rise.  A little gusty in the wind early on.  This made me change course towards 4 Horse Lake.  The shrimp boats are working the bayou between Lake John and 4 Horse almost non stop.  Pretty thick in Terre Boeufs as well.  Tested the morning bite for trout, no takers.  Decided to move to the edges/points of such area, and that was the tickets.  Steady redfish action, mostly perfect sizes 16 to 20.  I was catching a series of small reds, and I thought I had one more, so I carelessly lifted it towards the boat only to notice that this “red” was kind of skinny, silver and about 18 inches, as I watched it easily shake itself off.  Only one I saw all day, another pretty girl leaving a lasting impression on me.  Moved around to my secret spot, (I finally have one that sort of does something, I don’t think it’s that much of a secret), and finished off our 2 person limit of reds.  My first 2 person limit of anything as a “captain”.   It feels kind of good.  Hope to be out and about asap.  It’s that time fisherpersons.

    What hit the boat:

    10 Redfish keepers (15 throwbacks)

    8 Hardheads

4 Crushing wakes by speeding boats

    3 Crabs

    1 Shell
