This is from someone that hit the nail on the head. Have another sip of Kool-Aid my friend...
If this bill passes, what's next. Perhaps someone will introduce legislation to:
1.) Prohibit the use of yo-yo's, drop lines, set lines, trot lines, etc... as a legal method of catching any game fish. Actually we should outlaw them completely because these methods too often result in the accidental take of alligators, snakes, herons, other birds and other non-targeted species etc... Additionally, trot lines sometimes snag a human who falls overboard and drop lines are sometimes a hazard to boaters along the shore after water levels drop. These are arguably unsportsmanlike methods and they pose a risk to others. Crappie are game fish. Yo-yo's are not "sporting."
2.) Prohibit fishing for trout under lights at night because, according to some folks, fish are rendered blind by the lights. We can't have a lot of blinded fish running around! Additionally all of those extra lights along the shore create a hazard to safe navigation since they negatively affect a boat operator’s night vision.
3.) Put an end to teal season because someone might accidentally, or intentionally, shoot a wood duck, summer duck, etc... It happens hundreds of time across the state each year.
4.) Permanently close all deer hunting because the possibility exist that someone might shoot a yearling that still has faint spots on it. As we all know, catch & release isn’t possible when you hit a yearling with a 7mm magnum. This regulation would also outlaw all deer hunting with a bow and arrow. Too many deer are hit with an arrow and never recovered.
5.) For the little bit of fishing that will remain legal, we should require that only circle hooks be used. No more gut hooked or gill hooked fish and no more accidentally snagged fish! The chances of humans being injured would also be reduced if everyone used circle hooks. Oh yea… make them barbless too.
6.) Prohibit alcohol on board a vessel because the operator MIGHT get intoxicated and drive a boat. Passengers might get drunk, fall overboard and drown. Passengers might get drunk and do stupid things that distract the driver, etc…
7.) Require that all persons, at all times, wear a life jacket even in 2’ of water because someone might fall overboard and drown. "Big Brother" is here to save you from yourself!
8.) Require that all sportsmen wear their license in a way that makes it easily visible to a warden using binoculars. Other states do it. We should too!
9.) Outlaw fishing for bass, bream and crappie during the spawn. Think of the money that could be saved. No more re-stocking efforts would be needed! No more fish hatcheries would be needed! Tough choices for tough economic times!
10.) Outlaw the use of live bait. It's simply not "sporting." Any knuckle dragger can catch fish with live bait. I don’t use live bait and neither should you!
