Louisiana has the best fishing in the nation hands down. We have the perfect ecosystem to support the largest variety of fisheries by far. However that ecosystem is based on an anciently established balance of fresh and salt water and a healthy marsh/wetland. The reason for our dominance among other national fisheries is the Mississippi. It is the lifeblood of the region. it provides the balance perfectly when it is allowed to release its excess annually.

well, while louisiana has some of the best of the inshore and offshore fishing in the world, there is alot to be said about florida fishin'. they have the best bass fishing in the u.s. the sailfishing is great in the winter, they have snook, we don't,they have bonefise, we don't, they also have great lobstering, we have them, but they are at extreme depths!! now as to tarpon fishin' you need to go to florida, and fish the boca grande pass, or fish the flats out of the keys where you sight cast to tarpon in inches of water!!! every part of god's world has their place!!! and we are lucky to have a piece of the pie!!! i have caught sailfish in sight of the a1a bridges!! i have caught lemonfish around the a1a bridges!!! ed mcintyre
remember we did not inherit these resources from our parents, we are merely borrowing them from our children |

i think our ace in the hole is that 20-25 miles from the mouth of the mississippi you hit the shelf, sometimes called the wall in florida.i don't think anyplace else in the world does that.

| I am a fifth generation Floridian and visited Venice recently. Never ever seen anything like it! I think the population growth in Florida has ruined the ecosystem to such a degree it is nothing like what you have there. All the Cajuns I met were the happiest and nicest people too, hats off to you guys.....I look forward to returning one day! |
