Fished around Captiva Island quite a few times when I was younger in southern Florida. I thought their was no better place on earth with the snook, redfish, sheepshead, spotted seatrout, and such. I have been all up and down Florida fishing inshore and offshore and I am making my first trip to Louisiana this October. Going to Venice and then and only then I will be able to compare and contrast. I am fully aware their are no snook up there but I am sure their is some apex predator inshore that will fill the void.

let us know what you think after your trip.make sure you post here.I've never fished florida and know very little about their fishery.
i would assume the two states are very similiar, especially in the coastal areas

hopefully the river will be down to normal in october. fishing a falling tide with a high river is not a good experience. ed

Is the river stil pushing mud out into the gulf because it is getting pretty low here in Missouri. Both the Mississippi and Missouri.

It is definitely rising after today. 7 inches of rain in an hour in Memphis. Guess where all that water is coming. It will probably take at least two weeks to filter out.

wenesday the 28 day lower mississippi river forecast will be out. it usually is posted after 3pm. now it will only cover the river conditions based upon the water all ready on the ground and water that is forecast for the next 24 hours. ed
