| I took the NRA course for handgun and CCP last week and it is time well spent. Even though the class is not mandatory, it is WELL worth the time for the education about right to carry and just what happens once a weapon is needed. The enhanced sticker for the CCP card gives one the ability to carry in places not otherwise permitted. |

Absolutely I vote against anyone trying to take away any of our rights. We are under assault from our own government and it needs to stop.
Thanks for the post!

drreb; What other places does the enhanced stick allow you to carry that a standard CCP permit forbids?

| Secret: The enhanced permit allows you to carry in just about any plce except a courtroom while in session and sheriff`s(sp) office. Several states that do no reciprocate with others will allow carry in them also with the sticker. You can go on line to the NRA site to find where the class is being held nearest you. |

drreb, In your personal email to me you mentioned that "the sticker" allow you to carry at sporting events and a few other locations.. Sir I mean no disrespect, but you'd better check with the louisiana State Police before you carry at a sporting event in Louisiana. I have had a Louisiana issued CCP for a very long time and must say that there is no suck sticker or attachment to the permit that allows for carry into those forbidden by Louisiana state law. Also, should you be found quilt in violation, the sentences are mandatory! In other words, go straight to jail, do not pass go, etc.

| secret, As I said, I have never carried at a sporting event and do not desire to do so, but my CCP and enhanced stiker would allow me to do so in the state of MS. I don`t ever go to sporting events in La and don`t ever plan to go to one there. (I`m an Ole Miss graduate) But you might want to check on the additional rights granted in La if YOU have the enhanced ticket. I do have additional reason to need the advanced CCP due to a position that is a part of the executive branch of the MS state government, so I can probably carry in more places than I actually do. |

Hmm...in that case I might go get myself a couple of AK47s and AR15s, fully automatic of course, banana clips for the AK47 and a dozen 30rd mags for the modified AR15. While I am at it, a Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) would be a good fall back weapon..... A couple cases each of 7.62mm and 5.56mm please!
Seriously, I used up my last bit of Winchester Black Talons in the .357 caliber and don't know if they are still banned. I saw some for 9mm at the gun show in Slidell last year. The Black Talons were either banned or restricted to law enforcement many years ago because they were used in an office shooting. I heard Winchester replaced them with another variation. Has anyone here used Winchester Black Talons before? If not, what is your favorite handgun ammo?
It is great that you guys take weapons safety training but don't forget to teach your kids about gun safety as well especially with firearms in your homes. I talked to my son early on about the responsibility and maturity needed with firearms. I talked to him abut how often kids (mostly boys) that played with their dad's handgun or uncle's rifle and accidentally killed themselves, a sibling, or friend. I've already taken my son to the firing range multiple times. While it was fun to put holes in the paper targets, I concentrated most of my time with him on the proper and safe loading and unloading of a handgun and then checking and rechecking that weapon for safety in the same way I was taught in the military.
We all talk to our kids about important things like sex and drugs but many of us fail to talk to them about guns especially when we have them in the home.
Just my two pennies.... |

That amendment will actually allow the legislators to enact restrictions at a later date if allowed to pass. The way it's worded it tricks pro gunners into voting yes. Please read and tell your friends to vote no!

No problem Pat, the bastards keep trying to fool us. It's like the upcoming one on property tax, you'll naturally want to vote NO, but really should be voting Yes, otherwise we're screwed

To my knowledge the property tax vote was in last years election and was defeated.I don't believe its on the Nov. 6th ballot. The gun rights amendment makes it more difficult to change the existing law by requiring any changes to be subject to "strict scrutiny" by the courts. It is backed by the NRA. Louisiana has some of the best gun ownership and carry laws of any state in the union.

Sorry for the confusion, it's not actually the property tax issues, it's the transfer surcharge / tax upon the sales of real-estate. It's a sleeper. As for the "strict scrutiny", if left alone the courts can't apply any scrutiny, therefore, no court interpretation allowed to wax and wane at a later date. Trust me when I say that I am all about pro gun. An avid CCP participant for years, way before it was popular. I don't want any additional restrictions, or potential future restriction put on our RIGHT to bare arms
