Are there different times of the year for white and brown shrimp. Are brown more abundant in the spring and white more so in the summer and early fall? I'm trying to think.about.colors to throw for my artificial shrimp in the marsh now . Thanks in advance

right, the Brownies come into our estuaries earlier than do the gulf shrimp or white shrimp. When I was a kid the Brownies were also called Brazilian shrimp, now why I don't know

when i die bury me deep, put a bucket of bait at my feet, put a rod and reel in my hand and i will fish my way to the promised land !!!! remember we did not inherit these resources from our parents, we are merely borrowing them from our children

The first guy who saw the shrimp met a Brazilian before he met a Mexican or Honduran?

I don't have a bucket list but my f-ucket list is a mile long.

Juan, I have no Idea of who, how or why the Brownies were called Brazilian Shrimp, it was simply something that happened way before my time, and in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Brazilian Shrimp are listed as one of the most prolific species of shrimp in the Gulf of Mexico. The Scientific Name of the Brownies is Panaeus Aztecus, which to me would infer more of a Mexican name.

BROWN SHRIMP...first 'appear' in Louisiana esturaries usually in mid/late March (weather permitting) and remain until first/second cold front (Nov.?). WHITE SHRIMP...'start appearing' in estuaries usually in late July/early August and usually remain until mid January. All of this is based my 47+ yrs of shrimp trawling...just my educated opinions!!! John Castelluccio, Jr.

ps...after being fronzen-brown shrimp taste better. Most commercially sold frozen shrimp are white shrimp IF NOT IMPORTED!!!
