Has anyone had any experience buying a boat from out of state? I have agreed to buy a boat on consignment in FL. The boat is actual registered in TN where they do not require you to have a title for the trailer. The trailer has no VIN or it isn\'t legible. The owner supposedly has some paperwork with the VIN or Serial Number on it. Is this normal? Has anyone ever ran into this situation? I am worried about when I need to get insurance on it or sell it in the future. I don't want to have to jump through a lot of hoops here in Louisiana.

Get all the right paper work first even if you buy something locally and avoid a headache it happened to me with a camper and make sure (they) the people with the suppositly paper work have it all up to date or it might have fines on it. Didn't find all this out until we went to the DMV!!!!
