L.D.W.F. ISSUES NOTICE OF INTENT FOR STATE WILDLIFE GRANTS PROGRAM

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has issued a notice of intent to publish a Request For Proposals (RFP) for “Conservation Contracts Funded through the State Wildlife Grants Program.” The anticipated date of publication for the RFP is Feb. 8, 2008. The due date for proposals is anticipated to be March 21, 2008.

Interested parties are encouraged to begin drafting proposals for conservation projects addressing wildlife or fishery species of concern listed in the Louisiana Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy (Lester et al., 2005, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Baton Rouge, LA). This document, also referred to as the Louisiana Wildlife Action Plan, is available from the LDWF Web site at www.wlf.louisiana.gov/experience/wildlifeactionplan.

Proposals will not be accepted prior to the publication of the official RFP. Any proposal sent to the LDWF prior to publication of the RFP will be returned to the sender.

Details on conservation priorities, application procedures, evaluation criteria, and proposal due dates will be provided in the RFP. This notice of intent is for informative purposes only and is intended to give interested parties additional time to review the Louisiana Wildlife Action Plan and to consider possible projects.
