When Capt. Bobby Bryan established his business, Marsh Masters Guide Service in 1989, he went at it alone. While Bryan was one of the top anglers in the Golden Meadow/Leeville area, marketing a business was still somewhat of an abstract idea.

Then came the Internet, and with it, a proliferation of home computers into homes and businesses across the country. In the mid-1990s Mike Lane established a comprehensive fishing and hunting websites - Rodnreel.com. And charter businesses like Bryan's would be changed forever.

"We've grown a lot," said Bryan, of Golden Meadow. "Back then, it was just me. Now, I'm running six boats. We fish it all - the marshes, the beaches, the islands and offshore."

Bryan said he doesn't believe Marsh Masters Guide Service would have experienced the growth that it has, if it not for Rodnreel.com.

"It made a big impact on my business," Bryan said. "Tremendous. The key, I think, has been its ability to reach customers from out of state."

Before the advent of Rodnreel.com, the vast majority of Bryan's clients came from areas within Louisiana, such as Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Covington. Now, Marsh Master's Guide Service entertains clients from across the southeastern United States and all across the country.

"Just in the last week we had a group from Maine, two groups from Florida, and eight people from Indiana," Bryan said. "We would have never booked customers from those areas without advertising on this website."

Meanwhile, his business from Louisiana and the neighboring states remains as strong as ever. Why? Bryan said the answers are simple.

"It's hands down the best site for fishermen to visit before, and after they go out on the water," he said. "It has everything - weather reports, tidal charts, water conditions, they can even look up the exact locations of rigs, reefs and wrecks."

In addition, Bryan said Rodnreel.com is the perfect forum for customers to voice opinions, post their own fishing reports and photos, and ask pertinent questions relating to the recreational fishing, marine and hunting industries.

"It's well worth the money we pay for it," he said. "The staff designed us a professional website that's seen by people who love to fish. I knew that if we stayed with Rodnreel.com, the business would grow. So far, it's worked better than we'd hoped for. It's one of the best decisions we ever made."
