It didn’t take long before Richardson was a big fan of Rodnreel.com. It became a necessity to his business. But it wasn’t until several months later that he seriously considered becoming an advertiser.

“Word of mouth (advertising) works, but it is an extremely slow process,” said Richardson. “If I take someone fishing, and they tell a friend, and that person tells a friend – that can take a couple of months.”

An especially valuable tool, Richardson said, is the weather and wave reports.

“Before I go on a trip I’ll scan the reports to check out who, what, where, when and how people are catching fish,” Richardson said. “Then I go to the weather. I check the buoys, wave reports and water temperatures.”

The weather links include live Doppler satellite imagery, and loop radar.

Today, Shadowgrass Adventures has become one of the most successful charter businesses in south Louisiana. And Richardson says he owes much of his success to Rodnreel.com.

He is reminded of metaphor he heard long ago.
