Got a little Sweetwater update for all of our fisherman out there…we know we aren’t posting every day, but there just isn’t much to write about…however, today things got a bit better for the speckled trout. The most trout that we heard were caught today were 17, in lake Batola. Nine trout caught in Lake John. Fourteen from Four horse. Bay Shallow area..5 from there. Some of our customers that stayed the night here at Sweetwater, they were from Missouri, caught 0 fish yesterday, but today they caught 55 reds. They said it was the best fishing they ever experienced..considering they only wanted to catch just 1 red! Hopefully, they will share their day with a video; they said they would post it here on Sweetwater’s Facebook page. If you are a bass fisherman, I would say come to go bass fishing. A couple of guys that fish bass out of Sweetwater, pretty regularly, said that they caught and kept their limit of bass. We aren’t sure where they went. I know it’s not the greatest report in the world, but it is progress for us. I’d like to lie to you guys to pick up business; however, we just can’t do that to our customers. Tomorrow seems like it is going to be cooler..56 is the high..8-15 mph wind out the NE. That shouldn’t allow the water to get dirty with the NE wind. The weather is supposed to be back in the 60’s for Saturday. We are thinking that speckled trout fishing might start getting better, since we had at least 8-10 people give us some speckled trout reports today. They should be waking back up and biting again…since this long spurt of cold weather that took place. As far as he live bait, we just aren’t sure what to say at this point. Our bait supplier keeps saying we are so close to getting live shrimp. However, he is trying to get his boat perfect before going out. He is trying to get every knick knack thing done, since he has spent over 40k getting it back to full service. It’s been a hard, cold winter. Just keep your fingers crossed that Mother Nature doesn’t deal us any more artic blows and fishing can start picking up again. The November-December months were such great fishing. It just shut off, like a light switch. On another note, if you like to catch bull reds, head to the outside….around the rigs…we have heard there are tons of bull reds out there. Around any of the rigs or islands on the outside..there are lots of reds, black drum and even a few speckled trout..the water is crystal clear out there, and you can site cast. We will keep you guys updated…Captain Jack thinks it will be picking back up again. He still hasn’t gotten to make his fishing trip due to the remodeling of all of our lodging. They are coming out looking like brand new, and it is so worth it. We can’t wait for you guys to see what an amazing remodeling job the lodging has gotten. So, book your stay today!
