Several Sundays ago my son and I headed out from Lake Catherine Island Marina in search of a good time. Being on the Twin Vee with my son is always a good time – the best fishing trip ever.
Trolling 3/4 oz rattletraps along the trestles quickly got Matthew a 16″ trout which from the looks of it was down in the mud!! A short time later both rods went down. Great (Not). They were both on the same snag right along the trestles. In my hardheadness to save a $5 lure I lost one of my favorite rods over the side as the falling tide starting pulling us closer to the trestles. We were about half a mile from the north draw on the north/west side. If anyone hooks a 7′ still Ugly Stick with a red Ambassador please let me know. I will gladly provide reward. The combo is not worth a lot of $$$ but the sentimental value is priceless.
With hunger setting in we motored to Phil’s Marina Cafe in Oak Harbor. The starboard engine conked out but no problem with two engines. Now after eating the 1/2 hour ride back to the Island Marine takes 1 1/2 hours. The port engine now acts up and I look at Matthew and say “Well, there”s always Sea Tow”. The engine settled out and all ended well.
Hello to oneofthepack and the perch whisper.
