    Fishing Magician Charters

We find them and you catch them!

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with my cousin Berry Nunez, his two nephews Chris and Bryan, and his good friend Sam. It was great to see Berry today I haven’t seen him in a few years. We both grew up fishing and trapping with your Dads and Grand paws.

Today we fished the Biloxi Marsh catching 14 reds, and 20 speckled trout and 2 black drum.

All fish was caught 2′ under a popping cork using live shrimp from B.S.M. Campo‘s has fuel but just don’t have their bait boxes ready yet. But, it shouldn’t be too long till Campo’s is back to normal. They are working very hard to get everything up and running like before.

Fishing with a different type jerk to catch

It had been awhile, (fishing that is) for Oneofthepack and Capt don, (as he likes to be called, also aka Perchwhisper, Big don) So when Big don called and wanted to know if me was ready to attack the perches at one of is (3) top secret honey holes. It did not take me long to come out with a BIG YES to the challenge, so we schedule today for our perch journey.

    • A challenge of me likening
    • Got early to rig lines, put trolling motor battery in the Bay Flat Jr, and hook her up to the FORD transporter.
    • Big don a little early for our 5:45 AM meet up, had a little trouble getting him through the gate, but after a few tries he made it through.
    • Made our way down Hwy 11 to our first choice of spots to fish, but the grass was all mated up in the canal, me did not want to go through another episodes of trying to run through the mats of grass.
    • Off to pan “B” top secret spot of Hwy 90
    • Our run to this spot we saw squirrels crossing Hwy along the wires above, good sign
    • It had been a long time since we had the Bay Flat Jr out and about, and even longer for running the Yamaha nightmare dream machine, so we decide to try and start her while she still on the trailer. Tried to pump the fuel bulb, but it was hard as a rock, took the fuel connection off the motor, could not get any fuel to come through. We kept at it, even check connection on the tank, after a few tries we got the fuel to come through.
    • Now the real fun getting Yamaha started, took about 18 pulls, once started she was the Yamaha Dream Machine, ran like a top all day.
    • Made out way to the top secret spot of Capt Don’s list of honey holes that he manages.

    • Perfect
    • Dead calm in the early AM than S.S.E wind 6-8 mph
    • Sunny & Clear
    • Warm temps, around 11:35 little was posed to pop out so we called it a day.
    • Water temp 80 F than to 83 F
    • Water level down
    • Water clarity on a scale of 1-7 was a 7 plus
    • Tide barley falling than went slack

      • Be safe
      • Have fun
      • Put some run time on Bay Flat Jr. & the Yamaha Nightmare Dream Machine
      • This be me daily therapy for ALL me aliments
      • Gather Intel for future trips, and to share with fisherperson, (on to help assist them in their choice of areas to fish, lures to use and presentation of same to the elusive fishes.
      • Get Big Don back into the action, he been out of commission for 4-5 weeks, me think he on the road to recover and will be at 97% in a week or two.
      • Get in on some freshwater action as the salt water action is slim & none for me.
      • Learn some new spots to fish, and how to get to them
      • Scratch that itch that has been eating away at me for the past month or so.
    • Find a spot # with the five fundamentals / criteria of catching:
    1. WIND AT YOUR BACK: (Not a problem, Big Don in command of the trolling motor, and he position the By Flat Jr in the best wind position for fishing with our ultra-light rigs.)
    2. MOVING WATER: (We had moving water early in the morning, then the wind picked up and kept it moving, but the tide itself went slack.)
    3. WATER CALRITY: (Nice at a 7 plus, cannot look any better.)
    4. HOLDING FISH: (We found one spot where we anchored up and managed to pull out (10) perches out of one little honey hole.)
    5. PATIENTS: ( Action did not start until around 10:10 AM, it was a slow morning, but our conversation, (how we been, medicine we on, doctors we seen, and the various diagnose we got) kept us occupied and interested the fishing.
    • Anchor up cast & retrieve slowly along the bottom, with a twitch every now and then, tight lining…………………………………(10) FISHES
    • Drift cast & retrieve………….. (16) FISHES
    • Oak River Troll (ORT)……………….. DID NTO TRY
    • Reverse Oak River Troll (RORT) ………..DID NTO TRY
    • Oak River Skim (ORS) ……………DID NOT TRY
    • Cork ……..NOTHING
    • Lake P Troll (LPT)…………….DID NTO TRY
    • Dead bait………NONE
    • Live bait…………………NONE

    ·      LURE DU JOURE:

    • 3” H&H Purple Beetle, matched up with H&H ¼ oz. round white head with gold hook…………….DID NOT TRY
    • 3” Chartreuse Glow Beetle, matched up with H&H ¼ oz. round white head w/gold hook………….DID NOT TRY
      • Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H ¼ oz. round white head w/gold hook……………………….DID NOT TRY
      • Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H 3/8 oz. round white head w/gold hook………………….DID NOT TRY
      • Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H 1/2 oz. round white head w/gold hook…………….DID NOT TRY
    • Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with 3/4 oz. round lead head ……………DID NOT TRY
Assortment of very small freshwater lures, 1/64 oz. head, and 1/32 oz. heads. Our favorite black grub, did nothing, it seem the lighter lures where producing today. Capt Don put on a real small lure, me not have any so me bit me lure in half, and used the tail section as bit, worked fined all day.

During our pre planning stages of our trip we narrowed it down to (3) possibility of areas we would like to fish. Hwy 11 was a no go, (found this out at 6:15 Am in the morning when we arrived at boat launch) that left only (2) other options. Plan “C” Intel was not that good, so we diced to move on to Plan “B” for our fun day on the water.

    • Lived to fish another day
    • (2) Bass
    • (3) Goggle-eyed
    • (17) Bluegill
    • (5) Sacalait
    • (1) BIG MONSTER 10” gar
    • Food & drinks provided by Capt Don, thanks man
    • We got into a conversation on what controls/ effects / impacts the perches, the lunar moon, tide table, this when Big Don says he only concerned about the kitchen table, where is the meat. Guess you had to be there to appreciate the comment.
    • We yelping & yelling when we caught a fish, me think the fisherperson along the shore line must have though we a couple of nuts, and nuts we be, just enjoying the moments we were experiencing in a environment as pretty as anything me have ever seen.
    • Saw (2) Alligators
    • Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

It was slow day, it was close up to the point us 3 to 3, but after that, Big Capt Don went on a tear, one after another. He caught all the bass, 4 of the Sacalait, 2 of the goggle-eye, and the majority of the Bluegills. Even with him being out of practice for 4-5 weeks, his skills where as sharp as a Swordfish beak. Capt Don be fisherperson of the day for sure, but there is always tomorrow.

Fishing with ultra-light rigs a blast, has plenty of action try it for a fill in until the elusive Silverwodners show up.

“Ye would always beat me; not so much because you are a better fisherperson as because you will not accept defeat.”

    O & A:

What is the lattes word on when the Silverwodners will move inside????

Had to cancel out trip tomorrow, tomorrow is Big Andrew’s 80th birthday, he be fishing, thinking about fishing for 29,200.00 plus days, that be a long journey, me hoping we have many more days to fish and/or think about fishing for many more years.   HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG ANDREW.     Good Fishing   Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack

    When the BUMS Attack!

These guys always know how to have a good time and catch fish. They've been coming for a few years now and every trip so far has been a hot one. Three boats out today with captains T Miller and Marty helping out. Trout are busting shrimp all over the place and even though there are hundreds of small ones in the mix, the guys worked hard to put keepers in the boat. Matrix Shrimp Creole under a cork did all the work today. Capt. Rob Dupont Impulse Fishing Charters 225-776-9820

    Breton Beauty

Jeanie Longue & Bob Riches from Baton Rouge, along with Randy McCollum from Lafayette fished with Capt. Dan Dix of MLC Charters on Sunday 9/17/17.  We started out at Breton Island for some nice specs under a popping cork and live shrimp.  Tide movement would be later in the day so we went in search of redfish.  Finding clean water was a challenge but Capt. Dan put us on the redfish using dead shrimp under a popping cork.  Another great day on the water !

FALL IS ALMOST HERE! We had the pleasure to guide the Crane crew this past weekend. The weather was beautiful both days with a very strong falling tide at 2.0 feet. Although the fish are in transition for the fall season and the strong current was not favorable for a frenzy we had a decent catch both days. BIG THANKS TO THE CRANE CREW! Capt.
